White oak is a slow-growing species — reclaiming existing stock prevents demand for virgin old-growth.

Sourcing Story

Where this material came from and how we verified it.

📍 Origin

Northwestern Tennessee

Siding boards recovered from a 1940s tobacco barn near Milan, TN. The exterior exposure gave the weathered face its silver-grey color; the protected back face still shows warm honey tones. Remilled to consistent shiplap profile at our facility in Tupelo, MS.

⚖️ Diversion Impact

~4 lbs

diverted from landfill per sq ft.

✅ Quality Checks

  • Straightened under steam where cupped — no crowned boards pass inspection
  • Species verified as white oak (not red) by grain pattern review
  • Profile cut to consistent 1/2" reveal, tight tolerance
  • Edge-sealed to prevent further moisture uptake in transit
