♻️ Sustainability
Diverts textile waste from landfill — US textile waste runs 17 million tons annually. No fiberglass particles means no respiratory risk during installation. Borate fire treatment is a mineral salt, not a persistent organic pollutant like PBDE.
Sourcing Story
Where this material came from and how we verified it.
📍 Origin
Manufactured in North Carolina from textile mill waste collected in the Southeast
A Greensboro, NC insulation company built a collection network with regional textile mills — the kind that cut denim for major apparel brands and generate significant cutting waste. That waste stream, which would otherwise go to landfill or low-value rags, is shredded, cleaned, and needled into insulation batt. Each bag represents roughly 500 linear feet of denim trim that stayed out of a dumpster.
⚖️ Diversion Impact
~25 lbs
diverted from landfill per bag (approx).
✅ Quality Checks
- R-value verified per ASTM C518 on production lot — R-13 and R-21 tested separately
- Borate treatment level measured: target 8–10% by weight for pest and fire resistance
- GREENGUARD Gold certification current — no restricted substances in binder or treatment
- Dimensional stability tested: batt holds shape and thickness after 24-hour compression simulation
